Korea has been showing fantastic performance in E-sports. Starcraft, League of Legends, and Overwatch are the top 3 most played games by Korean. In its domestic tournaments and global tournaments, Korean gamers attracted large numbers of fans in and outside of Korea by their stylish skills and their understanding of games. Koreans have even amazed Paul Sams, Blizzard’s chief operating officer. The love towards games is tremendous and has left many remarkable records.
It is not too much to say that League of Legends (LoL) has dominated E-sports market in Korea. LoL has the highest share of PC bang, an internet cafe, and because it does not require high-quality computer, people have an easy access to the game. Before Riot decided to open Korean server, people used to play in NA server and even then, Koreans were among top ranker. In 2013, a team name SK Telecom T1 proved themselves to be the best among everyone in Season 3 World Championship. Since then, Korean teams swept almost every international tournaments, showing untouchable strength in the scene.
Koreans, especially the teenagers, their interest is fairly focused on gaming. It is one of loved ways to release stress, to bond with friends, and to entertain themselves. E-sports, a.k.a online games, now has huge impact on people.
